In over a decade of working with their clients, Zisser Customs Law Group recognized the need to reduce the risk associated with goods in transit through the supply chain. Existing ERP and trade management systems provided a place to record the required HTS number, but none ensured that a complete, accurate classification was being applied. Nor did they assist in determining eligibility for Duty Reduction Programs.
Missing information or errors in classification could mean paying duties that were too high, hefty fines, or delayed shipments. In addition, clients were often losing out on opportunities to leverage special trade agreements. As a result, Zisser began work with a team of technical and user experience experts to develop a set of tools to improve speed and accuracy in Import Regulatory Compliance.
Together they created a vision for an open-architecture system that would automate all of the compliance processes - classification, special claims, valuation, origination, and record-keeping - without requiring any specialized Customs knowledge. They are setting the standard for best practices in Import Regulatory Compliance, proving a strategic tool for importers to evaluate classification and origination options during critical phases in the supply chain process.
